Progress in my bubble often occurs in a manner of two steps forward, two steps back (shout out, Paula Abdul). No matter how hard I try to keep my cat out of my "studio," she finagles her way into the room with my setup. I should expect no less; her name is Ninja after all. Her favorite hobbies are to be exactly where I need to be and messing with the most important thing at any given time. Although its quite inconvenient, there is humor to be found in a cat pawing through a miniature landfill containing items destroyed by a canine. There have been some issues with the setup, so perhaps there is a silver lining?

I did some tests masking and blending multiple images in Premiere but feel its too "busy." Animating with the computer in conjunction with tactile stop motion creates a collage effect, which I like, and adding border around those pieces will help distinguish them from rubbish. Arrow, my hero dog, cannot go all Where's Waldo? on a chaotic set. His movements will be 100% (hu)manhandled. Whereas, the construction men and bulldozers will be shot individually then masked frame by frame in the edit. Doing this separately allows me more time to toy with the adjustable bulldozers, which are not the sturdiest things in America. It would suck up a lot of unnecessary time trying to maintain its sturdiness when the focus should be on the dog!!

I'm not exactly where I want to be but I know where I'm going!
kissincousinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11229878040004891595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215708605252889262.post-53433220130748656362023-03-22T11:36:00.000-07:002023-03-22T11:36:02.876-07:00ARROW: Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3!
Flying seagulls in hand-manipulated stop motion is incredibly challenging. I've tried to hang aluminum birds from a wire and poke them into background clouds. Regardless the gauge of wire, the lack of sturdiness hinders the control necessary to maintain stabilized. Stock footage of flying seagulls masked with clouds and a landfill (see previous post for video) will be included. Experimenting with the handmade birds for so long that excluding them would be quite a shame. My next and last bird experiment involves manipulating the birds on a flat surface. Opting to shoot sections in layers this placement and masking each component separately provides the liberties to execute filming this way. Heavy duty magnets have been a true lifesaver in gaining control.

Bulldozers and construction workers may be filmed outside of the landfill, then add another layer. I'm unsure if I will shoot them altogether or separately. In a former project, image cutouts moving imperfectly resulted in a playfulness and childlike collage. This concept will work extremely well with this project!!! I shall share footage next week! In the meantime, have a look at some of the individual components...

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtBG_aoxsl1wkUePHWcN5qW-BNIsX5v_WxQ9tXbABORpjD_qU-_2A92aX7hond_wO7gvsUqtyLgS5fVLuQXizTRt-a02XPw9s9DY3IS-KujYC3ISF_70yl8jNMUb0yYARPlKg7vdAxOOTkmGRqQ5-xmL5FV4PgoltTNxkHIafsqHosvDSBtQpJ7w/s3888/Clouds.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; Wow. It's crazy to see that I've not posted any film updates in a decade! What the...?
Even since my last post, I am still in post-production on "11:11." Life imitates art and art imitates life, I guess. A series of unfortunate events and a roller coaster of jobs led me to where I am today... finishing my last semester of graduate school. My heart has always been torn between film and teaching, so educating filmmakers on a collegiate level will give me the opportunity to share my experiences and mistakes with young students planning a career in film production.
A "trailblazer" of University of North Carolina at Wilmington's Film Studies MFA Program, I have delved into genres outside my narrative comfort zone. Through the program, my interest in experiemental filmmaking and stop motion animation has truly blossomed. Due to the art imitates life fact, my senior thesis film evolved into something unplanned. My schedule now askew from my classmates, I shall be extending my thesis film defense until the fall.
Arrow, a stop motion animation, was a project I conceptualized in my experimental film class. A collection of items destroyed by a foster dog lay in a messy box representing a landfill. In addition, waste accumulated from the project went straight into the landfill. The dog, made out of wire and a singular eye, makes his way across this mess in hopes to find cover for the night. Bulldozers, planes, trains, and birds fill the noise polluting soundscape. As the dog lay to slumber, cross dissolve to the morning when he actually lay in his 'real' dog body in a cozy bed inside a brightly colored diahrama. The family is known as "The Hart's."
Experiementing with various wires, foil, foam, adjustable toys, magnets, you name it... I'm still working out the most efficient way to manage all these moving parts by hand. It occured to me that a method used in a previous project used archival images which resized and moved frame by frame to create movement. Since the aluminum birds I have made a million times seem to be troublesome, I tested out how it would look if the birds were a pre-existing video. This would allow more focus on what the dog is doing. The gauge of his wire is quite large, so I must ensure not to chew it up with plyers! I also must ensure the dog does not get lost in the busyness of the set and its abundance of colors and visuals. kissincousinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11229878040004891595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215708605252889262.post-61428028015636265912012-09-11T20:04:00.002-07:002012-09-11T21:16:18.209-07:009/11He110 A11,
My apologies for the extended lapse of time since the last update; I've tried several times, but haven't been able to put the right words together or maybe I just wasn't ready to share them. There is no easy way to say it but bluntly, my mother died. My mom was unexpectedly hospitalized on Mother's Day and fought through two weeks of surgeries and procedures before passing away due to complications related to Peripheral Vascular Disease.
A loss of this magnitude is something I've never experienced before, only written about. But no amount of research can prepare a person for the range of emotions that accompany the loss of a parent. The sense of detachment can be paralyzingly isolating, where it feels like no one understands what you are going through. Every situation is unique and I have to remind myself I'm not alone and I'm not the first person to lose a parent and think life is unbelievable unfair.
As I was driving this morning and looked at the clock (not 11:11), things fell more into perspective. I was reminded of 11 years ago at that moment, thousands of innocent people were just going about their day and had their lives taken without warning in the most terrifying way. The thoughts that must have run through their heads... knowing they would never speak to their loved ones again is unbearable to contemplate. My thoughts of peace are with those who lost loved ones that blasphemous day.
My mother's death was not instantaneous, but completely unexpected. The devastation of losing my mom when she was merely 66 years old is beyond unfortunate, but in many ways I feel fortunate for other things. A lot of women don't have great moms and they live to be 110, whereas I had the best mom but just didn't keep her as long. I'm most grateful for the opportunity to spend the final weeks by her side and was blessed with the privilege of holding her hand as she took her last breath.
Needless to say, you can make all the plans in the world, but sometimes life has its own plan. My life has been on a detour for a while and I'm just now picking up my boot straps (non-leather, of course!). The movie has taken a back seat to my personal/private life, but I will soon resume the editing process which will provide a nice creative outlet that keeps me productively busy! I promise to update more frequently and keep you posted on ALL progress of the film. I greatly appreciate your patience and support.
Xoxo, meg
P.S. Call a loved one and say you love them just because you can!
P.S.S. I would like to encourage all smokers to quit smoking now! I know it is extremely challenging (I am a quitter! Weened off with the E-Cigarette, which I no longer need!), but it's not a fraction of the challenge that suffering through the consequences is. Peripheral Vascular Disease is only one of countless diseases that result from cigarette smoking. Learn more facts & pass them on...

Yesterday was the twinkles birthday and of all days, I had an 11:11 moment that reassured me that my life is on the right path regardless of how off it has seemed lately. I was looking in the mirror and noticed an eyelash on my cheek. I made a wish and walked into the living room and saw the clock... 11:11. The twin character, Lili has an eyelash moment in the film so there are too many 'coincidences' to be ignored. The universe was telling me something... and I needed it.

Its been a dark year... so many little tragedies surround us... many putting others into perspective. Cancer. Cancer. Cancer. Cancer. If I hear that dreadful word one more time... Are we sure it isn't contagious? Friends my age battling it and now my eldest cat, Buddy Holly. I've been dreading this moment for years and have never felt so helpless. It's crushing to think about my child who I've had for fourteen years, who has moved with me more times than I can count, has peed on everything I own and cost me a fortune (worth every penny)... won't be greeting me at the top of the stairs much longer. Death is inevitable, but I really thought he'd live to be the oldest cat on record. Now that he's on steroids you never know... I keep expecting him to turn into the Incredible Hulk, but will settle for him actually eating and keeping down a meal. We are taking it day by day and as long as he's comfortable, we won't cross that bridge. I have no idea how to prepare for what feelings will be in store for me when the time comes, other than being completely lost. There will never be another cat like him, but know that I've done everything to give him the best life and could not love him more.

Death seems to be prevalent in my circle these days and it being April Fool's Day hits even closer to home. One year ago today I almost died on the set of a television show (funny enough I just caught a preview for the next episode followed by another for a show about twins!). Everything happened so quickly my life didn't have time to flash before my eyes. That moment was no joke, but will say with as many close calls I've had... being plowed to the ground by a 15 passenger van and almost flat stanleyed is a semi-humorous in retrospect. Something is obviously keeping me on this earth and often times I think I'm still here to finish my film and tell this story. Perhaps it's taking me so long to complete because I fear life imitating art. Or maybe I'm afraid of letting go of a story so close to me and entering the unknown of what happens afterwards. What will I do then???

I think the real question we should all be asking ourselves is... what can I do now? We live in the now and with the clock ticking so quickly, you must truly embrace every waking moment and be kind to others. Life is so very short and we don't have the liberty to take anything for granted. Settle your scores before you close your eyes at night... take a minute to pet the cat before leaving for work... when your parents get on your nerves, pause and remind yourself that when they are gone you would wish to have that moment back. Live life without regrets and you will sleep better at night and wake up in good conscience every morning... for it could be your last.kissincousinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11229878040004891595noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215708605252889262.post-41160162866630652062012-03-01T13:45:00.003-08:002012-03-01T13:51:26.303-08:00Happy Belated LEAP YEAR!<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKe65zGoa_eV-J5VkNl4e9K6fjLCVmnmywEl7bZNILeHi52hyqwu1JoFIHxcQVqCIr4Qo-ucRP_VnMvOXlL0Ff1_VoaAXq8mLy0RS9S-Wda35V3aIpDEbXCQisPN3dUvoJhuySqQvOmw/s320/2012-02-29+20.48.11.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715048660863872274" />
He11o A11!

Happy belated Leap Year! I wanted so badly to post an update yesterday, but was very busy getting all the crowd funding rewards stuff put together for the cast signing 'party'. It was wonderful to see a lot of the cast together in one room... some had zero scenes together and had never met! The most rewarding part of this experience has been the privilege of not only working with such talented actors, but developing friendships and watching new connections being made. One of our actors directs a ton of local plays and has already cast two other 11:11 cast members he hadn't met until the shoot. It's a great feeling knowing that this project forged relationships that may have never existed!

I am a believer, however, that all things happen for a reason. Months ago when I was holding auditions, Kristi Ray read for a smaller role, but we cast another young woman more suited for the part. When I later found out the actress I hoped to play Savannah wasn't available, I thought I'd never find a suitable replacement. Our makeup artist mentioned Kristi Ray and coincidentally she was already on my list. When she came in, we spent 45 minutes just talking and everything Kristi said was so spot on that I knew she was the one before she even read any lines. Savannah is the character I call the sunshine of the film and wouldn't you know it... Kristi Ray's nickname is Ray of Sunshine:) As if it couldn't get more weird, she asked who was playing 'Mark', opposite 'Savannah'...when I said Jeramy Blackford, her eyes lit up. They had already been in a film together playing roles whose chemistry was undeniable! I know Kristi is not literally Savannah Collins, but I couldn't resist sending her Leap Year birthday flowers yesterday. Savannah would have been 12 (48) and I can't help but wonder what she'd be doing now. [Note: the story is set in 1993 and Savannah was born in 1964... the same year Kristi Ray's mom was born!]

Lastly, I want to mention one last "News of the Weird". One of my besties in Ohio is an 11:11'er and has been written into my script for years. Before the shoot, she found out she was pregnant with twins and due around Leap Year. This is very very strange considering there are twins and a leapling character in the film. T did not end up giving birth at 11:11 on Leap Year and is still awaiting the boys arrival, but the fact she's having twinkles is remarkable within itself. That's 11:11 for you!

Make a wish! xo, meg

ps. the picture of the cake is none other than the fictitious Savannah Collins' 12th birthday cake utilizing some of the many leftover birthday candles from our shoot!kissincousinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11229878040004891595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215708605252889262.post-37712303870804452282012-02-17T16:52:00.000-08:002012-02-17T17:00:44.062-08:00so this is the new year...<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNHAMZI0yK2kw_8hAsGTdrQJb80ieU-hBvhhyGQPvzxGZp6f3KlwaJFsXV8XoFByKPYJ3S6DRO_p791Nvj0ndhBIyFk2aKp_wgJ_plBzgL_frqI4XxG-oEQ4P3VSz6z7bV9axvCa2qGQ/s320/Sav.CU.Grocery.Cart.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710273453095351250" />

He110 A11!

I cannot believe it's 2012 already and 12 days shy of Leap Year! In the fictional world of 11:11, Leap Year is the birthday of the character Savannah Collins (played by Kristi Ray...photo attached). The choice of a rare birthdate was partly inspired by the song "Leap Year" by Maria Taylor, coincidentally opening the album titled '11:11'. This past Thanksgiving, I was blessed with fortunate timing of being able to attend one of her shows on the way to my parent's house. For the first time in many I've seen her live, she played "Leap Year"... smiling at me as she strummed the first chord over her pregnant belly. If she has twins, that will be just too weird!

[You can listen to her music for free here: http://www.last.fm/music/Maria+Taylor ]

Time has really flown by and I'd like to apologize for the delay in updating everyone about the progress of 11:11. Wrapping up has taken longer than expected and corporate tax filing is a beast, so I've been focusing on completing that to clear my mind of numbers before moving onto the creative. Editing is really where your film comes to life and I'm looking forward to seeing all the puzzle pieces together.

Much luck and love,
meg 1ansawkissincousinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11229878040004891595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215708605252889262.post-69660587587835447262011-07-25T17:53:00.000-07:002011-07-25T18:12:13.112-07:0011:11 CASTING CALL ROUND TWO!!! I'm in the midst of preproduction for "11:11" as we speak! The University of North Carolina at Wilmington has an independent study program for film students and I am very lucky to have a Film Studies major/Music minor as an intern! She's is extremely helpful and efficient and will be a true asset to this production. She is completing tasks that I don't mind doing myself, but consume a lot of time. She is currently working on getting out some overdue thank you cards to contributors from Kickstarter and IndieGoGo! Thank you Nikki and welcome to the "11:11" team!

While she is working hard, I have been organizing the office and getting ready to start the casting search. I sent the latest version of Draft 9 to a handful of select people for feedback and am taking a writing break until I get the responses. I've requested feedback to be given no later than June 1st, so any tweaks that need to be made will be completed by mid-June. Casting will follow (please no inquiries about this; we will definitely let everyone know when we are ready!) and then we will proceed to shoot Flashbacks and Dream Sequences in mid July. Since the flashbacks are supposed to happen in the past, it makes more sense to shoot them first to get our feet wet and get the actors into their characters. Several of these scenes will require visual effects, so this can be happening in the months leading up to principle photography. Having some footage in the can will also provide a sample reel for potential investors and gives us a visual to submit to a works in progress program at a film festival in Wilmington in which one of the dates falls on none other than 11/11/11!!!

The plan is to shoot the bulk of the film in September when it is not so hot and the vegetation will be much closer to what we are looking for. We hope to shoot interior scenes first and daytime exterior scenes towards the end of the shoot...pushing close to October, which is as close as we can get without surpassing November! We are very excited to get the ball rolling and will continue to keep everyone updated on the progress. Thank you so much for your support and the next time you see 11:11 on the clock, MAKE A WISH!!!! xo, megkissincousinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11229878040004891595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215708605252889262.post-5146237190908917842011-05-03T05:04:00.000-07:002011-05-03T05:10:19.383-07:00IndieGoGo Stop Stop, but tax-deductible contributions are still being accepted!He11o a11!

I want to thank those of you who contributed to and helped promote the "11:11" Indiegogo campaign! We came in below our goal, but still ahead! With approximately $14,000 in the bank now we have some foundation funding to get the pre-production ball rolling! There is still a ways to go fundraising, so if you didn't get a chance to connect to the fundraiser, you can still participate with a tax-deduction as a perk! Please email meg@kissincousinsproductions.com for more information on how to proceed!

Thank you all so much for your help and support! This film could not be made without the generosity of almost 250 people! That is truly remarkable and appreciated beyond words. We cannot wait to bring this film to life!!! xo, megkissincousinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11229878040004891595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215708605252889262.post-32478653784451279572011-04-23T07:19:00.000-07:002011-04-23T07:21:09.786-07:009 Days left to GoGo for "11:11" FUNdraiser!Only 9 more days to GoGo! We are far from our initial goal, but the good thing is that IndieGoGo is not an all or nothing fundraising website! Not discouraging anyone to come along and drop $50k though! http://www.indiegogo.com/1111

If we can raise at least $5,555 that would be fantastic and would help pay for several of our expenses! Independent filmmaking is unfortunately not free and we are trying to cut ever corner possible without sacrificing the original vision of the film…but money is a necessary evil. With majority of the crew working for well below their normal rates, feeding them well is a huge priority! Helping raise the bar on IndieGoGo will ensure that these hard working film enthusiasts are properly nourished in order to endure hours of shooting!

A revised timeline has been created with a new goal of shooting early Fall when the vegetation is more appropriate to the season in which the film takes place. This does cut close to our intended premiere deadline, however we’ve opted to go the Works in Progress route for 11/11/11 for various reasons (mainly to not throw us out of the running for festivals such as SXSW and Sundance). This buys us more time to raise funds and prevents us from filming in the blazing heat of the North Carolina summer!

Thank you all for the support you’ve given us and we will keep you posted on the progress of 11:11!kissincousinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11229878040004891595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215708605252889262.post-48843532590861352962011-03-22T06:06:00.000-07:002011-03-22T06:16:06.834-07:00The Lone TwinHello everyone,

Just wanted to give you a heads up where 11:11 stands at the moment. Latest revisions are practically complete and will be sent off to a select group of people to review and feedback regarding any alterations that need to be made. I'm very confident in the new adjustments and feel as if they truly support our mission. I've been doing a lot of research about twin loss, which is dealt with in the film, and recently purchased an out of print book called "The Lone Twin". Reading a lot of this after consulting with twins who have lost their other half, I'm baffled by how I knew so much before even reading. I swear I'm not a twin (I double checked:) but always wanted one and have been jealous of them my whole life. After hearing so many stories about twin separation takes the jealous away and makes me very sad to know so many are suffering in silence because no one understands but other twins who have shared the same experience. Although I am a singleton, I can sympathize with the situation and only hope to bring such an overlooked topic to the screen in the most realistic light possible. I'm honored and intimidated to take on this challenge, but am so blessed to be supported as a voice of this hidden community. Thank you to the PATH GROUP for all of your help!

IndieGoGo has 41 days to go and still has a ways to it's goal. If you have a moment to repost or forward the IndieGoGo link about "11:11" to anyone who may be interested, that is a huge help! Contributions are tax-deductible and rewards are given in exchange for a donation. Recently, I revealed some information regarding the story line of "Maggie", who is a 20 year old Twinless Twin. Many people do not know or understand the grief attached to the loss of a twin and I've been overwhelmed with support from the twin(less) community. I've consulted with many people about their experiences to ensure the character is depicted in the most realistic way possible. Strangely enough what I've already written was pretty much on point. I've learned a lot about the emotional rollercoaster that surviving twins go on after the loss of their other half and am moved beyond belief about the connection between twins even after the passing of one. I'm very grateful to those of you who have enlightened me with their stories and support what we are doing with our film. For more information, please check the UPDATES page on the IndieGoGo fundraising website! Thank you! xo, meg

http://www.indiegogo.com/1111?c=commentskissincousinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11229878040004891595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215708605252889262.post-50290698100579850462011-02-11T05:23:00.000-08:002011-02-11T05:50:13.600-08:00More Press and Updates on 11:11Hi ya'll,
It's been a hot minute since I wrote a blog, but I've been juggling updates on 3 Facebook pages, IndieGoGo, Kickstarter, Twitter, Linkedin, Myspace... on top of actually revising the script!!!! Finally I have gotten over the hurdle of revising Act 1! The first act of a film is really the most important because that's when you can intrigue or lose your audience. I also want to ensure that I'm not revealing too much at the beginning in order for the connections to be figured out like a puzzle being put together as the story progresses. I feel pretty confident in the changes and now have the freedom to move on to Act II, which won't need many alterations at all, either will Act III.

The biggest thing I need to do though is to cut out 37 pages of the script! I decided a while ago to quit worrying about the length of the script and write what felt was right. Although I'm in the weeds right now trying to edit, edit, edit, I am glad that I let my thoughts flow freely to get it all out there. Strangely enough, as it stands now...the script is 148 pages long, which is waaaay too long (I'm not PT Anderson with the liberty of making an ensemble piece of this scale, but I hope someday:), but found it very interesting that Act 1 is precisely 37 pages. Multiply 37 x 3 = 111. 148-111 = 37. Strange that I have to edit out the same number of pages that I hope to be in each act. I wish I could have an Act IIII .... that would be awesome! Making a film of that length would be absolutely naive, being my first feature and all, but find it so interesting how the math has worked in this process! If only 3+7 = 11 and not 10, then that would be super weird!

Anyhow, Act II will be worked on today and I'm looking forward to moving on. I've been using the vacant downstairs apartment as my office (it's supposed to be our 'production office', but all my Producers are working on bigger shows right now) and this has helped my writing immensely! There is nothing down there but some tables, chairs and my computer. I sit in my favorite room with brand new slate tile and windows surrounding 3 walls. It's actually going to be the location of one of the character's bedrooms, so this is the perfect place to go for inspiration. There is no clutter and not cats running around or things to distract me! Just me and my laptop! I love the silent lucidity!

A couple updates if I haven't bored you to tears... The Greater Wilmington Business Journal published an article in their paper last week which is super cool and will reach out to an audience that I may not normally be able to access. Here is the link to read the article... http://www.wilmingtonbiz.com/industry_news_details.php?id=2193 The same writer will also be doing an article in a local women's magazine called WILMA. I'm honored to have been approached by both publications, especially one that is geared towards what women are doing in Wilmington! Also, I have emailed a friend who works in the Film Studies Department at UNCW and he's graciously offered to help me find enthusiastic students who will serve as Marketing Assistant Interns! This will be a HUGE help and take great weight off of my shoulders! So far on IndieGoGo, we have raised $3,074, but still have quite a ways to go... hence why this students will be of massive assistance! Thank you Dave Monahan for helping me with this search!

Last but not least, today is 2/11/11. 2 = 1+1. 1+1/11/11 is a fantastic day to make your contribution to "11:11" on IndieGoGo while receiving good karma, rewards AND a tax deduction! Your contributions are greatly appreciated, as is spreading the word! Thank you so much for your help and support! Here is where to GoGo! http://www.indiegogo.com/1111kissincousinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11229878040004891595noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215708605252889262.post-91932318357637320432011-01-24T06:20:00.000-08:002011-01-24T06:45:02.186-08:00IndieGoGo - Tax-Deductible Contributions until 5/1/11Hello all,

Just giving an update of what's going on in the world of "11:11". Recently, I was able to transfer the Kickstarter funds into the Kissin' Cousins Productions bank account. This is great news because I was then able to afford to meet with a lawyer to finally form my company into an official LLC with a subsidiary LLC for the film itself. Within the next two weeks, I will formally own...
Kissin' Cousins Productions LLC with a subsidiary company of Eleven Eleven Productions LLC. The Eleven Eleven Productions LLC will essentially be for "11:11" and all funding will be transferred to this account to further ensure the security of my Kissin' Cousins Productions LLC just in case the film does not pan out as intended...don't think this will happen! We will succeed in raising and spending all of our money without going over:)

As of a few weeks ago, "11:11" was approved for a Fiscal Sponsorship from the organization called Fractured Atlas. This is a support organization for independent filmmakers in which when approved, all contributions go through IndieGoGo which partners with Fractured Atlas and are TAX-DEDUCTIBLE! This is a huge incentive to investors! We have increased our goal by 5x the last... with the intention of raising $55,555 on IndieGoGo by the deadline of May 1, 2011. The great thing about doing IndieGoGo through Fractured Atlas is that we will be able to withdraw contributions as they come in without taking away from our end goal. Meaning, if we need the funding we have on IndieGoGo right now, we can withdraw it on an as needed basis! Here is the link in which YOU can make your tax-deductible contribution... http://igg.me/p/15809?a=44312&i=shlk Forwarding this link on to at least 11 other people and having them do the same is a huge help in spreading the word, so if you have the time to pass it on we would be sincerely grateful!

Right now, we have a little less than $11,000 in the "11:11" fund and $1,400 standing by on the IndieGoGo campaign. Our plan as of the moment is to shoot the exterior driving scenes at the end of February or early March when the trees are still dead with the funds that we have. From there, we will have several sample reels of footage that will be included in the film with the hopes that potential investors will like what they see and will contribute more substantial amounts of money.

Our overall goal is to raise at least $250,000 so we can qualify for the NC Film Tax Incentive. This is a lofty goal, but a low amount in the grand scheme of feature filmmaking budgets. Regardless of whether or not we 'reach the stars', the film will be made! However, it will become increasingly difficult to pull off a large production such as this for a minimal amount of money. Our main mission is to pay the crew reasonable wages for their time and to be able to afford camera, dolly and crane rentals. Not to mention, special effects, lighting, cast pay, food, etc.... There are a lot of 'hidden' costs when it comes to filmmaking that many people don't realize unless you work in the business. So, any and all contributions are greatly appreciated!

If you have any questions whatsoever, please contact me via email at 1111kissincousins@gmail.com Thank you for your help, time and support! xo, megkissincousinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11229878040004891595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215708605252889262.post-66598848800158447842011-01-05T04:44:00.000-08:002011-01-05T04:47:05.299-08:0011:11 Successfully Funded on Kickstarter!Forgive me for not posting this earlier, but I suppose the excitement took over my brain and I completely forget to post this after the Kickstarter fundraiser successfully ended a few days ago!

I am overjoyed with the wealth of generosity of each and every backer who contributed to "11:11" and to the those who helped spread the word! According to Facebook,1,800 people shared the link to this page! That is just Facebook alone...what did we do before the internet and social networks? Connecting as many people to this project was the mission behind this FUNdraising campaign and I'm blown away by the outcome...

As of 11:11pm EST New Year's Day, "11:11" EXCEEDED it's goal by 8%! A whopping $12,075.07 was raised; almost $1,000 more than the original goal (not including private donations)!!! This is an amazing accomplishment! Making a feature film is not an inexpensive venture and funding is challenging to find. Now, not only do we have the foundation funding to begin pre-production because of YOU, we also have proof of solid support from 183 pledgers...making this project more intriguing to future investors. We hope to raise 4x the money we have, so we can truly make the movie the way we want and to pay the crew reasonable rates! We will likely do further crowd funding pushes for production and post and are currently seeking investors to match what we've raised on Kickstarter. Private donations via Kissin' Cousins Productions are being accepted for those of you who missed the deadline as well. Send me a message if you would like further information.

Thanks to a11 of you, I already don't want 2011 to end! What a great start to a New Year! See you on 11/11/11!kissincousinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11229878040004891595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215708605252889262.post-90857551959398451612010-12-30T15:47:00.001-08:002010-12-30T15:52:09.051-08:0011:11 strikes again! So, I took a quick break from posting the "11:11" Kickstarter link and on a whim decided to check out how much a flight to visit a friend of mine would be. I put it completely random dates in the future and what pops up... arrival time, 11:11! I think this is a sign that I should travel south for a few days this spring!

It's the final countdown on Kickstarter. Now they have hours listed and not days. That kind of freaks me out a little bit! But the good thing is we are at 65%, have 107 backers from 8 total countries. I feel confident that the other 35% will be fulfilled by the deadline of 1/1/11 at 11:11pm EST! http://kck.st/c3HwRRkissincousinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11229878040004891595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215708605252889262.post-26381823904049430202010-12-28T16:10:00.000-08:002010-12-28T16:40:37.783-08:00It's the Final Countdown! The "11:11" Kickstarter campaign is down to the wire! Four days remaining. 57% funded. 83 backers. 7 countries involved. I am so blessed and grateful for all of the support that I've been given from friends, family and strangers during this process. It's very moving to know how much folks are rooting for me!

I want to reiterate that no one should be shy about pledging $1 if they are interested in participating, but don't have a lot of spare change. I'm an indie filmmaker, so I get it! Connecting as many people from as many countries as possible is my mission and I appreciate any amount that is pledged toward this project!

January 1, 2011 at 11:11pm EST is the deadline and if the goal is not met, then the project receives none of it's previous pledges! That wouldn't make for a great start to the New Year, but I have confidence that this goal will be met and we can move forward and finally get this film in the can!

Passing the link on to at least 11 people you think may be into this project (it's been confirmed that 5 Nada Surf songs from the album "Let Go" have been permitted for use in the final cut of the film) is a great way to help spread the word to those who may not know this project exists! We are in the final countdown of the "11:11" Kickstarter campaign with only 5 days to go! For as little as $11.11, YOU can help bring this film to life with rewards in return! One of the babies recently weighed in at 11 pounds 11 ounces. The lucky little guy prompted her to pledge today, so I need to thank him for being so awesome! I love that 1111 has become interwoven into the lives of those that surround me. The number is contagious and hope more folks will consider investing as little as $11.11 to 11:11! Time is running out!kissincousinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11229878040004891595noreply@blogger.com0
